A Photo Gallery of a Spectacular Desert Course - The Firecliff -

Thursday April 24, 2014

The 6th Green at Firecliff - Palm Desert

Palm Desert, California, is one my favorite destinations, and the Firecliff  golf course is one of the best I've ever played. I not only played the course, I also photographed it. The result is this photo gallery of the Firecliff Course at the Desert Willow Golf Resort. I have seen some spectacular golf courses over the years, but this one has to be the most beautiful, EVER! And, believe it or not, it's a municipal course - a public course anyone can play - owned by the City of Palm Desert. No expense has been spared to make Firecliff one of the top public courses in the US. They even store the rakes for the bunkers in underground, automatic lockers - incredible. Please take a few moments to check out my photo gallery of  The Firecliff at Desert Willow.

Tuesday April 22, 2014

Photograph of the 13th At Jim McLean CourseThe Jim McLean Signature Course at Doral opened for play in May 2009. It does, according to the man himself, Jim McLean, "offer a fair test of skill and shot-making." The first three holes on the McLean Course are consecutive par-4's approaching nearly 500 yards each, truly defining a new golf course which will ensure a great challenge for players at all levels. The new course includes design features that enhance aesthetics as well as course strategy. Tee complexes are placed to provide varying distances to challenge players of all levels. The XR4 and XK5 Sunglasses from Peak Vision

Thursday April 17, 2014

Photograph of Peak Vision XK5 Sunglasses

The sun shining again, and it's time to dig out the sunglasses, or even buy a new pair. That being so,  I thought I'd give you another look at two of Peak Vision's Sports models: the XR4 and the XK5. These two products both feature the well-tried Dual Zone lens and new one-piece, shield style lenses designed to provide unobstructed vision - and remove that sometimes annoying, and often distracting, central ghostly shadow of the nose bridge.

But more than all that, these two products (and the SL8) not only shield the eyes from the harmful rays of the sun, they do seemingly without any loss of light at all. I can even read a book while wearing them, something I could never do with any other brand of sunglasses. For more information and a full review, please read The New Peak Vision Sunglasses

Me? I'm going to stick with my good old SL8s, my personal favorite sunglasses. Follow me on Twitter

Springtime Golf Getaways in Naples and Southwest Florida

Tuesday April 15, 2014

Venetian Golf and River Club, VeniceIt's springtime in Florida and the weather is at its balmiest way down there in Naples, Sarasota, Bradenton, and beyond. The Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida is one of my favorite golfing destinations. The golf courses in the greater Naples area are all open for play, and even during the high season only rarely are do any of them become crowded, and that means tee times from first light to mid-afternoon are usually available. Even better: from May through the end of October, many of the area's private golf clubs open their courses for public play, a rare treat for visiting golfers. If you're planning an early golf outing, Naples and Fort Myers should be top of your list of possible destinations. I have listed just about all the area golf courses and resort, complete with reviews and photographs, to help you with your planning. Please check out my listings of Golf Courses in Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota and Port Charlotte. If you've never wintered in southwest Florida, you just don't know what you're missing.

Put the J.W. Marriott Camelback Resort in Scottsdale on your Bucket List

Sunday April 13, 2014

Golf Course at Camelback Resort and Spa

The J.W. Marriott Camelback Resort and Spa, Scottsdale, AZ, should be one of the golf destinations on your Bucket List. I first visited Camelback in 1984. It was an amazing resort even then. Today, it's even more so. In addition to the grand resort, and I do mean "grand," the two 18-hole championship golf courses offer us a vacation to remember. Geeze, I love that desert golf and, if I could persuade you to give Camelback at try, I would certainly do so; you gotta give it some thought, ok? In the meantime, you'll find all the information about the resort and its golf courses by reading my full review of the Camelback Resort and Spa.

Master's Week 2014 Begins Today

Monday April 7, 2014

The 12th at Augusta National

Very few of us will get to visit Augusta National Golf Club this week. It's been a couple of years or so since I was last there, but the memories linger on. This year I'll be watching TV, bummer. If you've never made it to Augusta for the Masters, I feel for you. Here's a quick look at a what you might expect to see during a day at the Master's; some of the images I took myself, some I didn't. I hope you enjoy my photo gallery of A Day at the Masters.
