Greetings from Freeport Bahamas
Saturday March 17, 2007
Freeport is not the first place that jumps to mind when one is thinking of taking off for a tropical golf outing. It should, though, because Ive just spent a couple of days there checking out two fine golf courses both owned by the Westin Sheraton Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort: The Reef Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and the Lucayan designed by Dick Wilson. Both courses are in great condition, despite the recent drought, and well worth your consideration. Places to stay? The Westin Resort, of course, but if you're looking for something a little less crowded, and a little less expensive, a great alternative would be Pelican Bay at Lucaya (photo at right), just a 50-yard walk from the Westin and right at the center of the action of Port Lucaya and its famous market place.
