At this time of year the snowbirds begin heading for Florida, some to get away from the cold weather in the northern states, and some to play golf. Greater Jacksonville is not, in my opinion, as high on the list of great golf destinations as it should be. Jacksonville, and the surrounding area, from Ponte Vedra to Amelia Island to St. Augustine - Florida's First Coast, has a lot to offer. A three or four-day getaway will put you well within reach of all the beaches, world-class shopping and dining, and a whole host of attractions and amenities, including the World Golf Hall of Fame, PGA Tour Headquarters, LPGA Headquarters and more than 200 championship golf courses. Jacksonville, and Florida's Palm Coast, are easily reached by road or air, either from Jacksonville or Daytona. The list of Jacksonville golf courses is extensive and includes some of the most famous layouts in the world, TPC Sawgrass, for instance. The consistently good weather and the easy to reach location make the Jacksonville area Golf Courses an obvious first choice for a golf vacation or getaway.
