The Seneca Hickory Stick golf course was "named to reflect the presence of rare and protected Shellbark Hickory trees on site." This one is down to another of my favorite golf course designers, Robert Trent Jones II . Listed here in the "Off the Beaten Path" section of the New York Golf Trail, Seneca Hickory Stick is certainly that: Located just 10 miles from Niagara Falls, 5 miles from Southern Ontario and only 20 miles from Buffalo, it's also Western New York's newest golf course. The course opened for play in 2010 and was immediately was listed at number six on the list of Best New Courses in America by GOLF Magazine. The par 72 championship layout plays 7,016 yards from the Black tees with water in play on 11 of the 18 holes. Like most RTJ II designs, it's a tough stretch: the the fairways are liberally scattered with bunkers, the greens slick and fast but, with five sets of tees available, it's certain that every one will have an enjoyable round.
