Kay certainly did create a dunes-style course - you only have to look at the photograph above to see that. The 18-hole course plays some 6,840 yards from the back tees for a par of 72; the course rating is 72.6 and the slope is 128. The layout includes some remarkable and cleverly placed features and hazards: lakes, creeks, wetland areas, a multitude of potbunkers and natural hazards all complemented by bent and fescue grasses. It's a fairly open course with sweeping views of the lush Hudson Valley, deceptively generous landing areas, greens heavily guarded by deep and intimidating bunkers. Gotta be a good choice for native New Yorkers and visitors alike.
A true championship golf course, The Links at Union Vale opened to the public in 2000, and was rated the Best New Public Golf Course of the Year by Suburban Golf Magazine. It was also selected twice by the USGA to host the US Amateur sectional qualifier.
