Golf Courses, Resorts, Golf Destinations in the Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda
By Blair Howard, About.com Guide to Golf Travel
When the weather turns cold I usually start thinking about heading for warmer climes where golf can be played the year-round. There are some incredible golf courses and resorts spread around the Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda. Yes, I know, neither the Bahamas or Bermuda are technically a part of the Caribbean, but it makes a world of sense to include them in the overall big picture. For one thing, they are all easily accessible from the US, Canada and Europe. A short flight and you can be swinging your clubs under a semi-tropical sun that shines more than 300 days a year. What could be better than that?

Golf in Puerto Rico

To me, there’s no doubt that Puerto Rico is the ultimate destination for golf in the Caribbean. As of this writing, there are 23 golf courses on the island and six more under construction. Puerto Rico is an island on the northern reaches of the Caribbean Sea just to the west of the US Virgin Islands and some 1,000 miles southeast of Miami.

Only in the past couple of decades have the grand resorts really discovered the potential of the Dominican Republic, and their presence on the island is growing almost exponentially.
