Not long ago, while was I at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, I had the opportunity to visit the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. A high-tech, diagnostic facility, staffed by a team of professionals trained by the man himself, the Academy is the core of David’s worldwide operations. Delivering a philosophy flexible to golfers of all ages and abilities, the David Leadbetter Golf Academy offers golf instruction of a standard, and on a scale, I’ve not seen elsewhere.
David Leadbetter is known throughout the world of golf and is recognized as one of the world’s leading instructors. His teaching theories and methods have revolutionized the game and his influence on all levels of the sport is extensive. There are few great names in golf that have, at one time or another, not turned to David for help. His personal successes include the likes of Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Michelle Wie, Justin Rose, Charles Howell III, Ty Tryon, Ian Poulter and Nick Dougherty.
David maintains that the same principles taught to these top professionals are equally as applicable to complete beginners as well as high and low handicap amateur golfers. That being so, when establishing the David Leadbetter Golf Academy (DLGA), David has personally overseen the training of a cadre of world class instructors (all qualified professional golfers) to communicate the Leadbetter philosophy to people of all ages and abilities.
It was David’s dream to offer his philosophies and techniques to golfers around the world. Today, DLGA has developed into a network of Golf Academies spanning Europe, the United States and Asia; it’s become a truly global facility. There are currently 22 full time Academy locations around the world.
But there’s more. In addition to the 22 permanent facilities, DLGA is also an entirely mobile concept whereby the new Mobile Academy can transport the Leadbetter instructors, along with all of their teaching and video equipment, to virtually any location, worldwide.
DLGA programming is the most innovative in the industry, and includes hi-tech video and computer analysis with mental and fitness training options adapted to the needs of each student. Whilst the primary objective is to improve each student’s game, emphasis is placed on making the process fun and enjoyable.
