Many golf courses in Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, St. Augustine, and on Florida's Palm Coast, are members of Florida's First Coast of Golf, an organization designed to offer visitors the best opportunities for an enjoyable golf vacation - please look for the links for great specials, etc. The courses are easily reached via Jacksonville Airport and by road. The list of courses is extensive and includes some of the most famous layouts in the world, TPC Sawgrass, for instance. The consistently good weather makes Jacksonville an obvious choice for a golf vacation. www.florida-golf.org

1. Bent Creek Golf Course, Jacksonville, Florida

The 18-hole Bent Creek Golf Course plays right at 6,600 yards from the tips for a par of 71 . The course rating is 72.5 with a slope of 131 on Bermuda grass.  Designed by Robert Weed and Mark McCuymber, the Jacksonville golf course first opened for play in 1989.


2. Cimarrone Country Club, Jacksonville, Florida

The 18-hole Cimarrone course in Jacksonville, Florida plays 6,891 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.7 and it has a slope rating of 132. Designed by David Postlewaite, the Cimarrone golf course is a public facility that opened for play in 1988.

3. Deercreek Country Club, Jacksonville, Florda

The 18-hole Deercreek layout plays a relatively tough 6,702 yards from the back tees for a par of 71 with a course rating of 72.1 and a slope of 131. The layout was designed by Robert Miller and first opened for play in 1989.

4. Eagle Harbor olf Club, Orange Park, Floida

The 18-hole Eagle Harbor golf course in Orange Park, Florida, play some 6,840 yards from the tips for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.4 with a slope of 141. Tees, greens and fairways are Bermuda grass.  Designed by Clyde B. Johnston, the Eagle Harbor golf course first opened for in 1993.

5. Fernandina Beach Golf Club

Fernandina Beach Golf Club, Fernandina, Florida, is a 27-hole layout located close to Jacksonville on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean less than 30 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport.

7. The Grand Club - Pine Course

The 18-hole Pine Course at the the Grand Club in Palm Coast, Florida plays a game-stretching 7,100 yards from the back tees for a par of 72, a course rating of 73.9 and a slope of 139. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the Pine golf course opened in 2006. Read my full review of Grand Club - Pine Course.

8. The Grand Club - Cypress Course

The 18-hole Cypress course at the The Grand Club, Palm Coast, plays 6,800 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 138. 9. Marriott's Sawgrass Resort and Spa

As Florida golf resorts go they don’t come much better than the Marriott Sawgrass Resort and Spa at Ponte Vedra Beach in northeast Florida. Marriott claims it’s “the perfect marriage of sun, sea, sand and golf,” and it’s tough for me to disagree. The resort is a combination of worlds within a world. 10. North Hampton Golf Club Course, Amelia Island
