Bay Dunes Golf Course just to the north of Panama City, is one of the so-called Scottish links-style courses we run across every so often. It’s a fairly open, championship layout with very few trees. What this means is, it’s a largely flat and uninteresting golf course. You shouldn’t let that put you off, however, there are some well-place water hazards that can come into play on 10 of the 18 holes, and the course can play a little tough at times, especially when the wind is blowing. If you love golf, the Bay Dunes Golf Course will provide you with an enjoyable round; that I can promise you, especially when you consider the very reasonable green fees.
The 18-hole Bay Dunes plays 6,577 yards from the tips for a par of 71. The course rating is 71.7 and the slope is 119. Designed by Jack Cunningham, the Bay Dunes golf course opened for play in 1993.
Green Fees: $36 - $45, includes cart; subject to change, so please check with the golf club for up to date rates
Where to Stay
Personally, I like the Watercolor Inn, Water Sound, Florida. A second option I can recommend is the Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. Both are a little on the expensive side but, as always, you do get what you pay for.
