The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club is a city-owned facility, which means a couple of things: it’s inexpensive to play; it’s often busy. Beyond that, however, I have to tell you that this is one of the finest city-owned golf facility in North-West Florida. Unbelievably, the club owns not just one, but two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Pines Course is located at 1955 Lewis Turner Boulevard and features a challenging layout of over 6,800 yard through an upland pine forest. The Oaks Course is located at 1955 Lewis Turner Boulevard and offers over 6,400 yards of narrow, oak-lined fairways and challenging water hazards. In addition, unlike most city-owned facilities, FWB is a full-service golf club complete with a top-notch clubhouse, locker rooms, pro shop and a full schedule of community-oriented charity golf tournaments.
Two leased operations provide outstanding services for players of all ages and levels. Edwin Watts Golf Shop is a full-service, well-stocked golf supply merchandiser. Two Trees Restaurant provide excellent food and beverage service at both courses.
Fort Walton Beach is a year-round golf club. Warm, sunny afternoons in the winter allow for play on both courses. Players can enjoy a variety of wildlife throughout the natural setting preserved through their active membership in the Audubon Sanctuary Program.
The Pines Course:
- The Pines is a challenging par 4 layout of over 6800 yards through an upland pine forest. First impressions can be deceiving: at first glance, the course looks flat and uninteresting. Beyond the first green, however, the course opens up and makes for one of the most beautiful municipal courses in northwest Florida.
The Oaks Course:
- Just as it should be, the Oaks is a different type of course from its sister layout, The Pines. The Oaks is somewhat short, par 72 layout of slightly more than 6400. Unlike The Pines, the fairways are narrow and lined with old-growth oak trees. There’s also a lot more water around the course. In fact, water is in play over 11 of the 18 holes.
Amenities:
- Spacious, lighted driving range (home of the $2.00 bucket of balls!)
- Two Trees Restaurant
- The original location for the Edwin Watts Pro Line Golf Shops.
