Shalimar Pointe is one of The Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets. The often-overlooked Golf and Country Club sits on the northern approaches of Fort Walton Beach on the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay in the beautiful panhandle of Northwest Florida.
The 18-hole course is 6,765 yards long from the championship tees with a par of 72 and a slope rating of 129. Designed by William W. Amick, ASGCA, the Shalimar Pointe golf course opened in 1968. Meadowbrook Golf, Inc. manages this facility, with Kevin Dietsch as the General Manager.
This first photograph shows the 1st at Shalimar Pointe, a 525-yard (back tees) par 5. The green is guarded to the left by a large lake, which makes the approach shot more than a little difficult. Go long, and there's even more trouble in the form of two large bunkers to the right rear of the green.
Green Fees: $59 Weekdays and weekends; $39 Twilight fee.
