The PGA Golf Club Dye Course is the result of a collaboration between the PGA of America and Pete Dye, a vast redevelopment of a one-time resort course. Dye has created an open bowl effect that offers panoramic views over the 100-acre "Big Mamu" Wetland, a wild world of pine straw roughs, vast coquina waste bunkers and grass-based bunkers. With brand new Champion Ultra Dwarf greens surfaces, Paspalum tee grounds, extensive landscaping, new irrigation and coquina base along the cart paths to prevent blowing sand on windy days, and major bunker improvements including new sand in all greenside bunkers, the all new Dye Course is well worth the green fee.

The 18-hole PGA Golf Club Dye Course at Port St. Lucie, Florida plays 7,150 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.6 and the slope is 133 on Tifway419 II Bermuda grass fairways with Tifway Bermuda greens. Designed by Pete Dye, the course opened for play in 2007.

Green Fees: From $29 to $99 depending upon the season, time of day and day of the week. Green fees are always subject to change. Please contact the course/resort for up-to-date information and tee times.

Verdict: The Dye Course at PGA Village is arguably the most difficult course in Saint Lucie County. Low handicappers will find it an exciting and enjoyable day out; high handicappers, even from the mid tees, will find it a tough challenge. Dye is a master golf course engineer, and it shows here.

Where to Stay:

When I am in the area, I usually try to stay and make my base camp at the PGA National Resort & Spa in West Palm Beach. It’s handy to the courses in and around Miami, and also those just to the north in Jensen Beach and Port St. Lucie.

There are, of course, quite a number of fine hotels in the greater Miami area. Here is my Miami Hotel Guide of locations I am familiar with and have stayed at myself.

How to Get There:

The closest regional airport is West Palm Beach International Airport. The airport is served by almost all domestic airlines, including American, Delta, Continental, US Air, and United, along with several other regional airlines.
