Zorba's Restaurant - Freeport - Bahamas

By , About.com Guide

Greek, you say? Well, most of the time. Breakfast, however, is all Bahamian. At 7am each morning you’ll see the locals standing in line for chicken souse, corned beef and grits and, yes, eggs too. If you’re an adventurer, you’ll find the best of Port Lucaya’s Bahamian eye-openers are on the menu. For lunch the menu is definitely Greek: large gyros and souvlakia kabobs are just a couple of Zorba’s lunchtime signatures. For dinner you can begin with a Greek salad, then continue with moussaka, and finally end the meal in sweet style with baklava and a cup of coffee. The emphasis in on casual dining and you can sit inside or out on the terrace where you can watch the hustle and bustle of Port Lucaya.

{p}Zorba’s is just across the road from Our Lucaya and just a short walk from the Pelican Bay Hotel. As I usually stay at Pelican Bay, you can bet I’ve eaten here more than a few times. I highly recommend it – good grub doesn’t come any less expensive than this: breakfast & lunch $4-$13, dinner $11-$24. Open daily from 7am until 10:30pm. Port Lucaya Marketplace. 242/373-6137.
