Downtown Augusta Dining, with more than 300 restaurants to choose from and cuisine for every taste and budget, you're sure to be spoiled for choice. The following are just a few suggestions for restaurants and cafe's I can personally recommend. It's not a comprehensive list but you'll find it a great start to your culinary experience in Augusta. As always, it's a good idea to call ahead to verify locations and hours. Be sure to stop by your hotel’s front desk for a Concierge Referral card, coupons, more information and directions.

The Bee's Knees

At 211 10th Street. 706-828-3600 This Tapas joint serves everything from Tofu to Pad Thai. Their Avocado Chop Chop is extraordinary, so is their sake mojito. Open Tuesday through Thursday from 11am until 12am, Friday from 11am until 2am, and on Saturday from 12pm until 1am.

Blue Sky Kitchen

At 990 Broad Street. 706-821-3988 An airy, arty restaurant offering a range of cuisine way beyond the norm. Vegetarian options, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, seafood and the inevitable steaks are just part of a list too long to detail. And it's inexpensive too. From the daily special that costs just $5 to $14 for the most expensive item on the menu - blacken Angus sirloin steak - Blue Sky is all about value for money. The service is good too.

The Sunshine Bakery

At 1209 Broad Street. 706-724-2302 No listing of Augusta eateries would be complete without the Sunshine Bakery. The food is good, but basic. The service is quick and friendly. The prices are reasonable. The 1209 Special is one of several sandwiches topped with a special sauce and is a bargain at just $3.95. The Sunshine's Ruben is packed with corned beef, salami, sauerkraut and Gruyere cheese on sourdough bread. Served with a cup of soup, and Thousand Island dressing on the side it's a real value at on;y $5.50. Open daily from 9:30am until 5pm.
