When one thinks of Golf in Georgia, what usually comes to mind? If you answered anything other than Augusta and The Masters I would be extremely surprised. It might interest you to know, however, that there's much more to Georgia golf than Augusta National Golf Club and the Major Tournament - The Masters - that has grown up around it.

In Augusta itself there are a number of fine golf courses, many of them open to the public. Callaway Gardens, just south of Macon in Pine Mountain, has two fine championship courses, one of which played host to the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge for more than a dozen years and even today still enjoys a reputation as one of the best courses, open to the public, in the country. And there are many more.

Where to Play Golf in Georgia:

Atlanta is central to the State of Georgia and it makes sense that with the largest and busiest airport in the United States, that’s where you should begin your outing. There are, of course, other regional airports serving the state, including Macon, Chattanooga (serving Northwest GA), and Augusta. You can look for the best airline and car rental deals using the two aggregators below, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings.
