If you're really looking for an out-of-the-way retreat, 9 Beaches Hotel Resort at Daniels Head, Bermuda, is the place for you. If you've ever been to Bermuda before, or think you know the island, it really is time to think again. There was a time when 9 Beaches was a bit "iffy." They have, however, closed for some major renovations and I expect the resort will more than come up to par when they reopen April 1, 2009. You can still make reservations - the phone lines and the website are both open for business. Oh, and yes, golf is available at any one of a number of courses on the island, most just a short bus ride away.
Stay at 9 Beaches and you will do the unexpected Bermuda. Some guests have called it, “Heaven on Earth for the Down to Earth.” Jackets & ties? Forget it! Here the dress code simply reads, "Flip-flops required."
The unexpected Bermuda? You bet. But, hey, this is Bermuda so you will still be in for a first class vacation experience. Here's a preview of what you'll find at 9 Beaches:
- Comfortable, soft-sided cabanas--many located right on the beach and at the water's edge and some perched on stilts over the tranquil waters with every cabana having ocean views.
- Water sports galore - more than any other Bermuda hotel or resort. You can kayak, snorkel, scuba, sail, windsurf, take a scenic tour, go fishing or even learn to Scuba right at 9 Beaches.
- Take your pick of beaches - there are 9 beaches to choose from, definitely among the most gorgeous Bermuda beaches with beautiful turquoise water.
- The hotel Wi-Fi service will let you check your e-mail anytime at any of the Wi-Fi hot spots at the Resort. Download and cool down at the same time. Didn't bring your laptop? No problem. They've got you covered with two Internet stations in Centre Stage, which are free of charge.
It’s a bit out of the way on the south shore of Bermuda, but that’s a real plus, because all of the great beaches are located on the South Shore, including Horseshoe Bay and Long Bay. The city of Hamilton is but a short bus ride away, and so are the rest of the golf courses in Bermuda.
The Verdict: I have no real experience of this hotel. I have visited it - just to stop by and take a look - and if what I saw is indicative of good things, then it's definitely a hotel to consider, especially with all the renovations that have been made (the hotel reopened in April 2008).
