Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa is perhaps the best thing that has happened to Bermuda in a couple of decades. I stayed at the resort some four years ago, before it closed for extensive renovations and revamping, and it was a great place to stay then, even though it was a little dated. What I remember most about the resort, aside from its extraordinarily comfortable cottages set on a hillside overlooking the Great Sound, was the view across the Sound of Hamilton by night - breathtaking. Today, after all the work is done, and its reopening in April of 2008, Newstead Golf resort and Spa is ready to take its place among the leading resort and golf destinations on the island.
The Newstead Belmont Hills Resort features 45 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites and studios, each with a private balcony featuring views from the garden to the infinity pool to Hamilton Harbour. You'll also enjoy a full-function kitchen, luxurious bathroom and an inviting living area where you'll discover a fresh take on Bermuda's old-world charm – and with all the comfort and convenience of home.
Amenities at the resort include a semi-private, 18-hole golf course, a first-rate spa, two fine restaurants, a fitness room, business center, two tennis courts, and infinity pool, whirlpool, and its own ferry dock to provide easy transportation to the City of Hamilton and the Royal Naval Dockyard. Unfortunately, there's no beach on the property, but the South Shore and all it has to offer is less than 10 minutes away by bus.
The Spa at Newstead Belmont Hills is located at the east end of the resort. Large windows take full advantage of the sweeping view of Hamilton Harbour. A “wet room” and multiple treatment rooms affords guests perfect privacy.
Verdict: Newstead always was one of my favorite hotels in Bermuda. But now everything has changes, or is changing, for the better. Even though there's work still going on (until the early part of 2009, so I understand), I have no problem recommending it to you.

I suggest you stay at the The Newstead Belmont Hills Resort of course; the course is close by and you can take advantage of all the resort's amenities. Compare Prices. It’s a bit out of the way on the south shore of Bermuda, but that’s a real plus, because all of the great beaches are located on the South Shore, including Horseshoe Bay and Long Bay. The city of Hamilton is but a short bus ride away, and so are the rest of the golf courses in Bermuda.

The closest airport is Bermuda International Airport. The airport is served by most major US airlines, including United, Delta, US Air, American, and Northwest, and by Air Canada and major airlines from Europe and the United Kingdom.
