Designed by Bob Joyce in 1973, the Buccaneer Golf Course is a par 70 layout that plays just 5,668 yards with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea from 13 holes, Many Caribbean island courses are short, but spectacular: the Buccaneer Golf Course is no exception. It’s an ideal resort course - minutes from your guest room door and, with rounds often played in less than four hours, and with four sets of tees, it’s fun for golfers of all skill levels. The course is rated 68.2 from the back tees with a slope of 118. It’s a challenging little course, yet is sure to provide one of those absolutely unforgettable outings.
Senator Edward Kennedy remarked after playing the #3 signature hole, "The only problem with this hole is that it's so beautiful, you don't want to leave the green."
Travel and Leisure in 2007 golf put it this way: "Prized booty: The Buccaneer Resort in St. Croix...is considered to be the most scenic layout on St. Croix. A trio of holes plays along one of the resort's three pristine white sand beaches, considered to be among the Caribbean's finest."
“Each summer, we make improvements to the course, and this past summer was no different. We restored the 2nd green to its original design (the lower level had settled over the years) and widened it on its western side to gain some more pin placement options on the left side of the green. We also raised the left side of the fairway on the 10th hole to make it more receptive to tee shots.”
Golf pro Tim Johnston is on duty full-time. Guests and non-guests welcome. Breakfast on The Terrace, with views to Christiansted Harbor, makes a delightful way to start a round of play.
Hotel guests play at reduced rates. One-week golf packages are also available to guests. Discounted 10-play books are available to all golfers.
Rates: From $60 to $100 (18 holes) depending upon the season. Rental golf clubs are available for $25 (A great deal - it will cost you that twice to bring your own clubs – because of the new airline baggage rules)

The best service to this St. Croix airport is offered by American Airlines, which has connections through San Juan, Puerto Rico, from both New York City and Newark, New Jersey.
