Royal St Kitts is a beautiful a golf course, and just what you might expect to find on a Caribbean island in the Leewards. The stunning layout - heart stoppingly beautiful in a couple of places - is set on 125 acres with two full holes on the Caribbean Sea and three more on the Atlantic Ocean. The course is an old Peter Thompson tract lovingly redesigned in 2008 by famed Canadian architect Thomas McBroom from Toronto, Canada.
The course is a championship, 18-hole, Par 71 that plays some 6,900 yards from the back tees. Water is in play on 10 holes, and some 80 thoughtfully-placed bunkers guard greens and fairways alike. The landing areas are for the most-part generous, but some of the approaches require astute club selection while the good old "bump-and-run" shot is a viable option on many more. The greens themselves are undulating and fast. Irrigated seashore paspalum, an advanced hybrid turf grass, helps the course maintain a lush green year round.
The image above is only the first of many visual delights you can look forward to as you wend your way from one lovely hole to the next. The 1st hole plays 536 yards from the Golf, championship, tees for a par 5. The fairway is, for the most part, long and straight until it finally dog-legs right to a green guarded left and right by two large bunkers.
