From the white tees, the course is deceptively short, just 5,389 yards. From the back tees, however, it stretches more than 6,850 yards for a par of 72 with a course rating of 73.6 and a slope of 124. All of which compares favorably with other golf courses in Jamaica. The course has been designed as much for beginners to enjoy as for low handicappers with generous landing areas, rolling fairways and large, undulating greens, all guarded by strategically-placed bunkers and grassy mounds. From the back (Blue) tees it’s a tough play made even more so by the seemingly ever-present winds that are often gusting at more than 30 miles per hour. For players with handicaps of 15 or more, the White (forward) tees are the way to go. If you have trouble controlling your drives, stay away from the blue tees – green fees included or not, the cost in lost balls can be expensive.
A nice extra feature is the underground tunnel that leads from the Runaway Bay Resort to the Superclubs Golf Club. “You can take a golf cart ride to and from the Superclubs Golf Club without worrying about road traffic.” The clubhouse is open from 7am to 6pm. Last tee time for 18 holes is 2pm, 4pm for 9 holes. Tee off times are not required.
Green fees are included for guests of Breezes Resort, Spa & Golf Club – Runaway Bay. Guests of other nearby Breezes Resorts qualify for a preferred rate. Mandatory Caddy = $11 (9 holes), $16 (18 holes) – and you’ll need to tip the caddy. Club rental = $20 per set, per round. Green Fees (for non guests) = $80 (18 holes), $50 (9 holes). Cart = $23 (9 holes), $35 (18 holes).
