About The Course:
Architect Mike Strantz had a vision for his course at Royal New Kent. The description “links-style” is one I’m not to fond of. Rarely does a course measure up to those found in Scotland, Ireland and even England, where the cold winds sweep relentlessly in off the ocean. Strantz’s vision does, I think, come very close to the real thing. Royal New Kent was intended to be a true depiction of an Irish links in the tradition of Royal County Down and Ballybunion.
The course plays 7,372 yards across a wild and windswept landscape for a par of 72. From the championship, “Invicta” tees it’s rated 76.5 (wow) with a slope of 147.
