I think you’ll agree that Mississippi is, perhaps, not the first destination that jumps to mind when one is considering possible venues for a golf vacation. Well, I’m here to tell you that I think it should be. From the sparkling waters of the Gulf Coast to the casinos in Northwest Mississippi, there are more than 145 golf courses for you to choose from, many of them designed by some of the greatest names in golf: Fazio, Pate, Nicklaus, Cupp etc. There’s something for just about everyone – courses that will test golfers of every level of skill.

Beyond the golf (hummm… as if there is such a thing) there’s plenty to see and do, not least of which is the expanding world of the casino – as of this writing, Mississippi ranks third, behind Las Vegas and Atlantic City, in casino revenues. And I can assure you that the casinos themselves, especially those in Tunica, do not rank far behind those of their older, more established, peers in the west and northeast.

The mighty Mississippi River is a strange, mysterious world all its own, and offers more attractions – historic sites, museums and parks – along its length than any other river I can name. From Memphis to the gulf, the river meanders through the Delta, cotton fields and plantations to the sea. It’s an awe-inspiring spectacle – often serene and old-worldly as Mark Twain described; often wild, raging, dangerous; always majestic and enigmatic.

Then, of course, there are literally dozens of Civil War battlefield parks, cemeteries, and museums, including: Vicksburg National Military Park, Champion Hill Battlefield, the Civil War Earthworks at Corinth, Brice's Crossroads National Battlefield – Shiloh National Battlefield park is less than 20 miles from Corinth, just across the Tennessee State Line.
