Review of Burning Ridge Golf Club, Myrtle Beach, SC
Burning Ridge Golf Club, Myrtle Beach, SC - A Review

By , About.com Guide

[p Burning Ridge features two Championship, 18-hole courses both designed by Gene Hamm. The West course is a watery (lots of water hazards) layout where you might wonder if your golf has taken on a new identity: that of a fish. The East course at Burning Ridge, however, is quite different: sand is the major hazard here.

Extensive renovations over both courses have produced amazing results Not only was Burning Ridge voted the Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year in 2006, it was also honored as the South Carolina Golf Course of the Year. As you make your way from one tee to the next, you’ll encounter beautifully mounded, often generous fairways, giant bunkers, water, water and more water, and greens, smooth enough, but of varying sizes and speeds.

Course Specifications:

Designed and built by Gene Hamm, the two 18-hole, par 72 courses play 6,780 and 6.714 yards off the Champion tees for course ratings of 72.9 and 71.8 with a slopes of 128 and 122. Both feature four sets of tees to make play enjoyable to players of all levels of skill, however; low scores are achievable on both courses, but will require cool thinking and astute club selection.

Green Fees: $43 to $81 (approx., depending upon the time of year and day of the week)

Where to Stay:

Myrtlewood has its own on-site accommodations, and there are literally dozens of hotels and motels in the Myrtle Beach area. So no matter what your budget or choice in lodging, you can easily put Myrtlewood into your golf vacation plans. If you’re not thrilled with the idea of staying at a golf club, my own recommendation is that you try The Kingston Plantation. It's not too far from Myrtlewood and you can include the courses as part of one of their specials.

But why not check out all the options and Compare Local Hotel/Resort Prices

By Air: The closest regional airport is the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport is served by Delta, Continental, US Air, SpiritAir, and several others.

Look for the best airline and car rental deals with these two aggregators, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings:
