Review of the Kingston Plantation Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC
Arcadian Golf at the Kingston Plantation Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC

By Blair Howard, About.com

The Kingston Plantation Resort offers all the amenities and comforts you expect to find in a resort of this magnitude. Located right on a half mile of beautiful beach front, Kingston Plantation Resort is a beautiful large resort with lots of fun activities and amenities for everyone to enjoy, including a championship golf course designed by Rees Jones.

All guests at Kingston Plantation have access to a children's water park, an outdoor pool, fishing, biking, fresh water fishing, and an extensive health club. The health club and water park are available for an extra charge. Freshwater fishing can be found right on property at the on-site lake.

The resort is large, but a complimentary, on-site shuttle is available to help make getting around easy. You'll also be just minutes away from Tanger Outlet Mall, Barefoot Landing, Carolina, Opry, Dixie Stampede, fine dining, and an amazing array of off-site golfing choices. Please note that pets, motorcycles or trailers are not allowed.

Golf:

The Kingston Plantation’s own Arcadian Shores Golf Course was designed and built by Rees Jones. The 18-hole, par 72 course plays a seemingly long 6,857 yards off the Champion tees for a course rating of 73.1 and a slope 137. With four more sets of tees, however, the course lends itself well to players of a lesser skill. Low score are achievable, though not easily, off much shorter Arcadian tees where the course plays just 6,055 yards, though still maintaining its par 72. The Arcadian tees do, however, lower the rating to 69.2 with a slope of 126.

The Arcadian Shores Golf Course is a Myrtle Beach favorite featuring tree-lined fairways, water, bunkers, Tifton Bermuda greens. You’ll like this course, I promise.

Green Fees, depending upon the time of year and day of the week run $79 to $89 (approximate)

How to get There:

The closest regional airport is the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport is served by Delta, Continental, US Air, SpiritAir, and several others.

Look for the best airline and car rental deals with these two aggregators, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings:

Only in Myrtle Beach will you find such a diversity of golf courses and resorts to choose from. This is one I can personally recommend.
