Review of Myrtlewood Golf Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC
Myrtlewood Golf Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC – A Review

By Blair Howard, About.com

Myrtlewood Golf Club, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is home to two outstanding championship golf courses, PineHills and The Palmetto, both of which are situated on Myrtle Beach’s beautiful Intracoastal Waterway. Myrtlewood Golf Club first opened for play in 1966. Since then it has become one of the Grand Strand’s favorites.

The PineHills Course is unique in that it’s the only Ather Hills design along the Grand Strand. Formerly known as The Pines, the course was renamed PineHills in 1993, when Hills redesigned it. The PineHills course incorporates much of the old Pines layout, but Hills' innovative use of mounding and strategically placed water hazards have given the old course an entirely different feel.

The Palmetto Course, designed by Edmund B. Ault, features wide fairways lined with old-growth pines. Its magnificent views of the Intracoastal Waterway make it a classic Myrtle Beach course. Two memorable holes make it an outstanding course: the par three 17th on the Intracoastal Waterway, and the 18th which plays its entire length along the shore of the Waterway.

Unlike most golf clubs, Myrtlewood offers on-site accommodations. Myrtlewood Villas features Spacious one and two- bedroom condos .

Where to Stay:

Myrtlewood has its own on-site accommodations, and there are literally dozens of hotels and motels in the Myrtle Beach area. So no matter what your budget or choice in lodging, you can easily put Myrtlewood into your golf vacation plans. If you’re not thrilled with the idea of staying at a golf club, my own recommendation is that you try The Kingston Plantation. It's not too far from Myrtlewood and you can include the courses as part of one of their specials.

But why not check out all the options and Compare Local Hotel/Resort Prices

How to Get There:

By Air: The closest regional airport is the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport is served by Delta, Continental, US Air, SpiritAir, and several others.

Look for the best airline and car rental deals with these two aggregators, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings:

Only in Myrtle Beach will you find such a diversity of golf courses and resorts to choose from. This is one I can personally recommend.
