Review of Palmetto Golf Course, Myrtlewood, SC
Palmetto Golf Course, Myrtlewood - A Review

By , About.com Guide

The Palmetto Course at Myrtlewood Golf Resort has been a favorite with visiting golfers to the Myrtle Beach area for over 30 years. And, for more than 30 years, the Palmetto Course has been continuously ranked as one of the top courses along the Grand Strand. Landscaped for optimum play, the course meanders sedately along through growth pines, wetlands, lakes, ponds and, of course, the stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The tifdwarf bermuda grass greens can run quite fast, but the overall layout lends itself to an enjoyable round for golfers of every level of play. At Par 72, the 6,977 yards are a consistent demand of your skills.

Course Specifications:

Designed and built by Edmund B. Ault, he 18-hole, par 72 Palmetto Course plays a sometimes tough 6,977 yards off the Champion tees for a course rating of 73.7 with a slope of 135. With four sets of tees to make play enjoyable to players of all levels of skill, however, low scores are achievable, especially from the much shorter Gold tees where the course plays just 6.059 yards, though still maintaining its par of 72.

Green Fees: $44 to $89 (approx., depending upon the time of year and day of the week)

Where to Stay:

Myrtlewood has its own on-site accommodations, and there are literally dozens of hotels and motels in the Myrtle Beach area. So no matter what your budget or choice in lodging, you can easily put Myrtlewood into your golf vacation plans. If you’re not thrilled with the idea of staying at a golf club, my own recommendation is that you try The Kingston Plantation. It's not too far from Myrtlewood and you can include the courses as part of one of their specials.

But why not check out all the options and Compare Local Hotel/Resort Prices

By Air: The closest regional airport is the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport is served by Delta, Continental, US Air, SpiritAir, and several others.

Look for the best airline and car rental deals with these two aggregators, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings:

Only in Myrtle Beach will you find such a diversity of golf courses and resorts to choose from. This is one I can personally recommend.
