Review of PineHills Golf Course, Myrtlewood, Myrtle Beach, SC
Pine Hills Golf Course, Myrtlewood, Myrtle Beach, SC - A Review

By , About.com Guide

The PineHills course at Myrtelwood Golf Resort is Arther Hills’ first and only design along the Grand Strand Formerly known as The Pines, it was renamed PineHills in 1993, when Hills redesigned it. The PineHills layout follows much the same route as did the old Pines course but Hills, by skillful use of mounding and strategically placed water hazards, has given the course an infinitely different feel.

Course Specifications:

Designed and built by Arther Hills. The 18-hole, par 72 PineHills course plays 6,640 yards off the Champion tees for a course rating of 72 and a slope of 133. With four more sets of tees to make play enjoyable to players of all levels of skill, however, low scores are achievable, especially from the much shorter Gold tees where the course plays just 5,692 yards, though still maintaining its par of 72.

Awards:

PineHills was on Golf Digest's list of nominations for "Best New Resort Course" after its redesign and was a finalist to host the Tour Championship for the Senior PGA Tour when the event was held in Myrtle Beach. In 1997, PineHills was named one of Golf Digest’s “Top Ten Courses in Myrtle Beach.”

Green Fees: $44 to $89 (approx., depending upon the time of year and day of the week)

Where to Stay:

Myrtlewood has its own on-site accommodations, and there are literally dozens of hotels and motels in the Myrtle Beach area. So no matter what your budget or choice in lodging, you can easily put Myrtlewood into your golf vacation plans. If you’re not thrilled with the idea of staying at a golf club, my own recommendation is that you try The Kingston Plantation. It's not too far from Myrtlewood and you can include the courses as part of one of their specials.

But why not check out all the options and Compare Local Hotel/Resort Prices

By Air: The closest regional airport is the Myrtle Beach Airport. The airport is served by Delta, Continental, US Air, SpiritAir, and several others.

Look for the best airline and car rental deals with these two aggregators, which provide travelers with an up-to-date search tool to compare prices on airfares and car rentals of all ratings:

Only in Myrtle Beach will you find such a diversity of golf courses and resorts to choose from. This is one I can personally recommend.
