Did you ever watch the movie Water World? You did? Okay, now look at the photograph above of the Man O’War Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, kinda reminds me of that movie. Never, ever, have I come visited a golf course like this one. Water is the inescapable element of this incredibly beautiful golf course. It will be your constant companion as you make your way from one tee box to the next, all the way around the layout until you reach the 18th green; even the clubhouse is built over water.
The lake at Man O' War is an unpredictable foe. For all its sparkling beauty, it can become the ultimate, punishing hazard. That being said, Man O' War is a uniquely exciting challenge, a fair playing field where course architect, Dan Maples, delved deeply into the dark world of the imagination to create an astonishing layout of intertwining holes that call into play a diversity of skills and provide even the advanced player with a thousand opportunities to think, and then think again. Maples has created a golf course like no other, a course that will reward golfers of all levels of skill. Better yet: it's a really fun experience.
Maples has designed some of America’s most exciting and talked about golf courses, but Man O’War has to rank among his best. The layout meanders around the lake from one unbelievable experience to the next. Many great American golf courses feature island greens, and none is more famous than the 17th at The PLAYERS Stadium Course at Sawgrass – well, maybe the floating green at Coeur d’Alene – but Man O’War has a pair of back-to-back island greens, and the incredible island ninth, surrounded by water from tee to green, must surely give Sawgrass a run for its money. So, if there’s a golf experience you should not miss, Man O’War is it. In my opinion, Man O'War is one of the Best Golf Courses in Myrtle Beach.

Dozens of hotels and motels in the Myrtle Beach area include Man O' War in their Golf Packages. So no matter what your budget or choice in lodging, you can easily put Man O' War into your golf vacation plans. My own recommendation is that you try The Kingston Plantation. It's close to Man O'War and you can even play the course as part of one of their specials.
