Inexpensive:
The Green Parrot, Hurricane Hole, Paradise Island. Just across the water to the north of Nassau, at the base of the Paradise Island Bridge, by the pool behind the marina, this casual outdoor bar and restaurant is often bypassed by those not in the know. But one frequent visitor claims he drops by the Green Parrot every time he’s in town.
Lunch or dinner can be taken at a table right at the harbor’s edge, and you can’t help but marvel at the domed roof lined with t-shirts from around the world: visitors are expected to donate them. The cuisine includes perhaps the finest hamburger I have ever tasted, And then there’s the omnipresent conch salad, conch fritters, an assortment of chicken dishes, the usual salads, fresh fish, the inevitable steak and, of course, lobster done just the way I like it – lightly steamed and swamped with melted butter.
Prices range from $5 for a burger to $39,95 for a full steak dinner. Better still, a large bowl of conch fritters costs only $7.25 and is almost more than one person can handle. 242-363-3633.
Highly recommended as one of Blair's top picks for Nassau, Bahamas Restaurants.
