Powerboat Adventures

By Blair Howard, About.com

Powerboat Adventures

Here’s your chance to experience the fast-paced world of power boat racing. Two companies operate these adventures out of Nassau. Both are headquartered at the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal: Island World Adventures and Thriller Powerboat Tours.

Island World Adventures

Island World Adventures offers day trips the islands of The Exumas: definitely not your ordinary day excursion. If you have a need for speed and a taste for adventure this is a not-to-be-missed experience. If you are on vacation in Nassau, this is you chance to experience the magic of the Bahamian Out Islands first hand. It’s a day trip you’re certain to enjoy and an experience you likely never to forget. You’ll visit some of the uninhabited islands of the Exumas. Enjoy the authentic Bahamian cuisine, and experience all the thrills of a high-speed chase across the crystal waters between the islands. For a detailed description of the adventure go to page ?? in the chapter on the Exumas. Island World Adventures, phone 242-363-3333

Thriller Powerboat Tours

Thriller Powerboat Tours take a different approach to the high-speed world of off-shore racing. True, for a price, they are ready to take you anywhere in the Bahamas, but their main clam to fame seems to be the local rides they offer around Paradise Island and along cable Beach. The boats, reminiscent of the cigarette boats made famous by such television shows as Miami Vice, cut through the waters off Nassau at speeds in excess of 45 miles per hour. It’s all a great thrill, but not suitable for small children, people with heart conditions, or pregnant women. Thriller Powerboat Tours, phone 242-363-4685
