The golf course at LaPlaya was purchased by the resort in 1998 and completely redesigned by noted architect, Robert Cupp. [p]Cupp took what was previously a rather flat and uninteresting layout and turned it into one of the most picturesque and inviting courses in southern Florida. Gone are the old flat wetlands. They have been replaced by undulating, rolling dunes and fairways with generous landing areas and strategically, but fairly, placed bunkers that demand you think about each and every shot. The landing areas are often generous; the greens sometimes small and often deceiving, and the rough is not so long and tough that it makes play too difficult. Bob Cupp did a great job.[/p] [p]True, LaPlaya is a shot-maker's course (aren't they all these days?) but, if you take your time and think things through, good rounds are entirely possible. This is a beautiful course, both aesthetically and to play.[/p]
