The Preserve Golf Club at Tara in Bradenton was, as its name suggests, designed around its own natural preserve areas by golf course architect Ted McAnlis who has said this of it: "The synergy of the golf course design with the native environment has created a gorgeous golf course." The Preserve golf course is a 7200-yard challenging layout where special care was taken to enhance the natural wetlands, wildlife preserves and all the natural features found therein.
With some 52 lakes scattered across the face of the golf course, you may well imagine that it’s a tough play, and it is. The golf course winds through the natural and lush Florida wetland settings. The Champion Ultra Dwarf Greens are undulating, quick and guarded by cleverly placed bunkers that enhance and complement the omni-present water hazards. The course represents mother nature at her very best; if you get the chance, you really should give this one a try, especially when you consider the low green fees they’re charging for what is a real championship experience.
Green Fees: from $25 to $65, depending upon the season, day of week, time of day, etc. As always, green fees are subject to change, so please check with the golf club for up to date rates; the number is listed below.
Where to Stay:
There are a couple of options I can recommend: The Hampton Inn Bee Ridge just off I-75 in Sarasota, and the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Both are handy to the golf course and the two hotels offer a range of price options.
