Venetian Golf and River Club is located in Venice on the shores of the Myakka River. When one thinks of Venice, the one in Italy, the first thought that comes to mind is “water.” Venetian Golf and River Club lives up to its name and its moto should be “water, water, water everywhere. The course architect, Chip Powell, is considered one of the industry’s most imaginative, and innovative designers. His layout at Venetian is unique, and no two holes are alike. The course layout is beautiful, treacherous. Set on 660 acres pristine natural beauty, lakes, wetlands, conservation areas, and designated an Audubon International Gold Signature 18-hole Championship Golf Course, this is one for the nature-lover. and provides panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. A round of golf here at Venetian is a journey into the unknown, both visually and at play.
The Venetian features generous fairways, strategically located sand and grass bunkers. Forced carries play a big part in the layout, but five sets of tee offer a wide range of options and thus make play enjoyable for all of us, well… high handicappers will find it tough if the choose the back tees. The TifEagle greens roll fast, but true, and are not too difficult to read. Venetian is managed by WCI Properties.
The 18-hole Venetian golf course plays 6,931 yards from the back tees for a par of 72, a course rating of 72.9 and a slope of 127. Designed by Chip Powell, the Venetian Golf golf course opened for play in 2003.

Where to Stay:
There are a couple of options I can recommend: The Hampton Inn Bee Ridge just off I-75 in Sarasota, and the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Both are handy to the golf course and the two hotels offer a range of price options.
