Like most sister courses, the TPC Scottsdale Champions Course is somewhat overshadowed by its more famous sibling, The TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. But the Champions Course is a thing of both beauty and playability. A Randy Heckenkemper designed layout, it "offers the consummate desert golf experience." The course at 7,115 yards from the back tees, and with a par of 71 (there are five par 3s), is real challenge. The rolling Bermuda fairways can be hard to find while the pristine greens are undulating, not easy to read, and are guarded by well-placed and often deep bunkers. The course meanders through a desert world of natural ravines and foothills offering breathtaking views that are alone worth the the cost of play.
“This is not your typical resort course,” said Heckenkemper of the Champions Course. “Consistent with the quality of the PGA TOUR brand, our vision was to provide public golfers with a TOUR-caliber course that balances strategy with design, so as not to favor any one type of player. Golfers must execute a variety of shots throughout the course, and each hole can be played a multitude of ways – providing golfers of all skill levels with a challenging golf experience that can be significantly different each time they play, depending on how much risk/reward they choose to undertake.”
The Champions Course facilities include a new clubhouse with expanded banquet and catering capabilities along with a large outdoor patio that will serve as the ideal locale for tournament receptions, business gatherings and other special events.
From $65 to $243 depending upon the time of day and day of the week.
