The Encinitas Ranch Golf Course is a daily fee golf club owned by the City of Encinitas and managed by J.C. Resort. The golf course, a championship par 72 layout of some 6.500 yards was designed by Cary Bickler and first opened for play in 1998. Set high on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it's the stunning views that make for a memorable round of golf. Bickler took full advantage of the natural terrain, elevation changes and a couple of lakes; as public access golf courses go, this is, perhaps, as good as it gets. Four sets of tees make the shortish course playable for golfers of all levels of skill. If you're visiting the Carlsbad area, you should try to give it a go.
