Brackenridge Park Golf Course has been a part of San Antonio golf for more years than most people can remember. One of America’s historic 18-hole golf courses, Brackenridge was the first inductee into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. It was also the original site of the PGA Winter Tour.

Brackenridge Park Golf Course, implausibly located close to the heart of San Antonio, is the anchor layout of the six municipal golf courses that comprise the Alamo Golf Trail. Originally designed by A.W. Tillinghast, the course has retained many of the somewhat incongruous, by today’s standards, square greens for which he was so famous.

The Texas Open Golf Tournament originated on the Brackenridge Park Golf Course in 1922 and was played there until 1959. After more than 86 years, the golf course was closed in January 2008 for extensive renovations. It re-opened for play in October the same year. The renovations included the greens, tees and fairways and the addition of 30 new bunkers, a major revamp, yes, but the layout retains 15 of the original 18 holes designed by the master, A.W. Tillinghast making the course a window into San Antonio’s golfing past, a lovely old course and a pleasure to play.

The renovated golf course measures 6,263 from the championship tees with a par of 71. Brackenridge Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1916 as an 18-hole championship course.

Green Fees: $75 on weekends; $60 on weekdays; $45 twilight fees; includes golf cart. Green fees are always subject to change. Please contact the resort for up-to-date information and tee times at (800) 446-5387.
