Wild Rock Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells is a Hurdzan & Fry creation; a spectacular, 18-hole championship golf course that opened in May of 2008. Since then it has garnered one accolade after another, finally entering the Golf Digest list of Best New Public Courses 2009 at number six. It was also listed at number four on the Links Magazine list of Best New Courses of 2008."
The course was, as I already mentioned, designed by the dynamic duo of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, two architects for whom I have the greatest respect. Their designs are innovative, imaginative, and environmentally aware. Wild Rock is a credit to both of them. The course does, indeed "offer a golfing experience unlike any other, blending three diverse terrains into one incredibly memorable golfing experience."
The course is laid out over what once was an old rock quarry (Wild Rock?). It features dramatic elevation changes and stunning views as the fairways meander through tracts of natural woodland, creeks, sandstone ridges and the rugged terrain of the old quarry.
The designers have incorporated five sets of tees to ensure that golfers of all skill levels will enjoy their day out, and even post a good score. The 18-hole Wild Rock course plays 7,414 yards from the tips for a par of 72. Yes, it's a long one.
