Williamsburg Golf Courses: As you probably know, Williamsburg has always been known for its Historic Triangle. But what you may not know is that there was a time when Golf Digest ranked Williamsburg number 24 on their list of the top 50 golf destinations in the world. And rightly so, for there are Golf Courses in Williamsburg that easily rank among the best in the world. And there are one one or two Williamsburg Golf Courses that are quite incomparable. This section of Virginia is, to me, one of those few, old-world locations where golf and its own history are at one with that of the local environment. I love Williamsburg, especially its golf courses.
Williamsburg features more than a dozen championship golf courses designed by some of the most famous names in the game, including the master himself, Pete Dye. Other noteable designers include Rees Jones, Robert Trent Jones Sr., Arnold Palmer, Curtis Strange, John LeFoy and Jack Nicklaus. It's no wonder, then, that over the last five years Williamsburg has become a major golf destination. Five new championship daily-fee courses have been added in the past two years alone, bringing the total to 10. These include Royal New Kent and Williamsburg National, two of the best courses in Virginia. So it’s no wonder that this historic area has become so popular with golfers from around the US and Canada.
The Golf Courses:
- Williamsburg National Golf Club
- Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
- Royal New Kent Golf Club
- The Golf Club at Brickshire
- The Tradition Golf Club at Stonehouse
Things To Do:
When the golf has been played, the scores counted, and the 19th hole left far behind, there still plenty left to do here in Williamsburg. The Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg was founded by the Rockefellers in 1926, the re-creation of an entire 18th century city with 88 preserved and restored structures and more than 500 buildings spread over 173 acres. Beyond that there’s Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, and the Old Dominion Opry, dozens of outlet stores and more great restaurants than you could possibly visit.
Where to Stay:
How to get There:
The closest regional airport is the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. The airport is served by Delta, US Air, AirTran, and several others.

So, Williamsburg’s Golf Courses offer a wide variety of opportunities for golfers and non-golfers alike. Never will you find yourself far from nice place to stay, a good meal, or something special to see or do, all just minutes from one another.
